Judaism asks that in every generation we undergo the Exodus, feeling as if we ourselves came forth out of Egypt. This tenet strives to make the voyage from serfdom into freedom a living personal experience. It was in this spirit that the story of liberation was told and handed down from parent to child, children in turn growing up in the knowledge that they would have to tell the story to their children. The Seder became the symbol of the bond between the individual and the family, between the family and the community, between the community and the people of Israel wherever we may be living – all of us united in the telling of an old but ever-renewed story. What could be more Micah than that?
